Lake Tawakoni Guide

Fish Tawakoni

Captain Roy Songy

Just a little biography about Roy Songy!  Growing up in New Orleans I fished the salt water on weekends. That’s where my passion for fishing started. After moving to the DFW area in 1980 I started fresh water fishing for stripers in 1982 on the Red River below the dam at Lake Texoma when the lake was flowing over the spillway. My first Striper ever caught was a 20 pounder with a Zebco rod and reel and a 3-1/2′ Redfin on 10lb test line that I had bought the day before! It took 45 minutes to land him! Pardon the pun, but I have been HOOKED ever since.

My hobby of fishing on Lake Tawakoni turned into a profession when my passion and experience impressed a local guide, Michael Littlejohn with Michael & Terry Littlejohns Lake Tawakoni Guide Service. They approached me after seeing all my successful trips out on the lake. With a little anxiety and reluctance I excepted their invitation to help on a group trip, I never dreamed how much fun it is to put people on fish. I was “hooked” and started guiding Fridays through Sunday and within a few short years was able to go full time with my own service, FishTawakoni.com.

Other Guides, Specifically Matt Cartwright, Roger Gray, Jimmy Smith, Joe Read, and Trent Miller became instrumental in my success and continue to be to this day. Phillip Walker with RSR Lures has provided me with quality lures that put fish in the boat.  While there is competition on the lake with each guide, we are all good friends sharing information with one another that ensures our guests have the experience of a lifetime catching many fish trip after trip.  Don’t forget to like us on FaceBook!
